Publishing to Project Central - New!

From CeltxWiki

Project Central (PC) is the hub of the Celtx Community where users showcase their Media Projects for public display, to exchange peer reviews and provide constructive feedback.

A finished film, play, comic book or video is the visible 'tip of the iceberg'. The hard work that went into making it - the other 7/8ths - is the 'below the surface' base that most people never get a chance to experience.

Project Central changes that by giving you a free venue to post all the background details from your pre-production files (including, for example, insights and information on key characters, actors, locations, wardrobe items, and props) to augment your finished product.

With Project Central you can tap into the enormous audience demand for back stories, casting details, production notes, and the like, and your audience will get a more compelling experience - which will also help drive interest and demand in your project.

With Project Central, you'll also benefit from reviews and commentary left on your project from other media creators.

And Project Central technology also helps search engines index your projects, making it easier for your audience to find you.

How do I publish a project to Project Central?

Publishing to Project Central requires a free Celtx server account. Once you have that, uploading of your project is done through the 'Upload' feature on the Project Central homepage.

All of the information in your Celtx project - including any Character or Scene Details, or information about Actors or Locations, or props and wardrobe items - anything you add to your Project from within Celtx - will appear as clickable content in your Project on Project Central.

What can I publish?

Any data in a Celtx Project can now be published to Project Central. This includes any:

  • Script(s) – and number of scripts can be published, including spec versus shooting scripts, serials, and alternative endings
  • Text Docs- supporting research, treatments and synopsis, related background material, and song lyrics;
  • Forms – Any details on Characters, Scenes, Location and Actors can be published;
  • Department Items – any items gleaned from any one of the over 30 different production departments that Celtx supports can be published, providing consumers with deep access to details on anything from Animals to Weapons;
  • External Files – any external file, including pictures, sound files, video clips, budget docs or storyboard shots can be published as part of your Celtx Project. Files that can’t display in a web browser will be available as a download.
  • Video Embeds – support is included for video embeds so you can continue to place your videos and other Media projects on sites like Yahoo!Video™ or Google Video™ or YouTube™.

What will it look like?

Projects published to Project Central will appear much like they do in the Celtx client. Folders in Celtx will appear as headers in Project Central. Any file, including the text data and media in a Celtx Form (eg. Location Details) will be displayed in Project Central as it pretty much appears in the Celtx client (with some tweaking for presentation).

We’ve published our Sample ‘Oz’ project to Project Central so you can see what one Project looks like.

Do I have to have a script or screenplay to publish a project?

Absolutely not. In fact, we encourage media creators to use Project Central in innovative ways to make their projects as compelling as we know they can be.

What kinds of files can I include in my published Project?

There are no limitations placed on the type of file that can be included in a Project.

Files native to Celtx - meaning files that are created using the Celtx software like a Scene Details form - will display in the viewer's browser as a normal HTML page.

External picture, sound or video files - meaning files that the Creator added to their Celtx Project from a source external to Celtx - will also display, or play, as the case may be, in the viewer's browser in the normal course.

External files that the viewer's browser can't display or play - like a budget spreadsheet or calendar - will show up as a file that the viewer can download.

Where Do I Upload My Video?

Project Central supports video embeds - meaning you can post your video to your favourite video distributor, like YouTube, Veoh, or Blip.tv and then embed the video link in your Project.

The Video will appear as it would on the video distributor's site. When a viewer clicks on the video it will stream from wherever the video has been posted.

Who owns the rights to my Project?

If you created it, you own it.

Per the Terms of Use, ownership of any Project remains with the creator. We do not assert any rights to your content, save that we have the right to remove objectionable content. And that we will respond to claims of copyright infringement in accordance with our stated policy per the Terms of Use.
