Dual column dialogue

From CeltxWiki

Dual Dialog is dialogue simultaneously delivered by two characters:

      MOTHER BILLY
I want to know where You're not the boss
you've been young of me! I hate you!
man!

To format Dual Dialog, high-lite two sections of Character and their respective Dialog, and then click on the Dual Dialog button in the Celtx Toolbar. Two small balloons will appear next to the parts that are dual dialog.

Use the Typeset feature if you want to see what the dual dialog will look like for Printing.

You can use the dual dialog button to highlite and tag successive sections of Characters and their respective sections of Dialog to simulate two characters repeatedly speaking at once.

There are limitations in the formatting of Dual Dialogue. One is that it is arranged as rows, so that the timing of the start of simultaneous dialogue is implied to be when both characters are speaking. Continuations (a dash at the end of dialogue) is a work-around for this:

      MOTHER BILLY
You sleazeball! Mum! Dad! Mum! -

      FATHER BILLY
It's not my fault! Dad! Mum! Dad! -

      MOTHER BILLY
Oh, hows THAT?! (increasingly agitated)
                         Mum! Dad! Mum! -

      FATHER BILLY
She threw herself at Dad! Mum! Dad! -
me!

                   BILLY
                (screaming)
             Gargh!
