File | Add Item... allows you create an item which will turn up in later reporting. To ensure that items created this way are identified by the report, you must tag text in the script using the item categories lists on the right hand side of the screen. Select a term in your script, select a category and then select the item within that category. Then press the "tag" button. The text in the script will change colour, and that item will now appear in reports.

An alternative method of creating items is to initially highlight text, select a category and select the <New ...> item, which will create a new item for you when you press the "tag" button.

Items that you create are used in pre-production planning - identifying necessary characters, set dressing, greenery or animal wrangling, and so on.

Add Buttons

Clicking on the dark grey + (plus sign) on the Project Library Sidebar allows you to add any pre-loaded Celtx document, or any other kind of document from any application to your Celtx Project folder – PDFs, Spreadsheets, Storyboards, even Scripts written in other applications. Each document will open in its default application where it can be modified and then saved back to the Celtx folder. That way you’ll always know that you have the latest version of a particular file in your Celtx Project making it easier to Collaborate with team members.

Add Multiple Scripts

You can also use this feature to add multiple scripts to your Project, or to split a long script in to several shorter scripts to better facilitate co-writing. If only making a copy of the script, just add a new script document to the project, then cut and paste the script into the new script, and make your new changes.

Multiple scripts can be used to break a teleplay or stageplay into acts, where the location of page breaks is important.

Items such as characters are shared between scripts within a project. This means that the information you enter for a location, for example, will appear in reports for any script in your project.
